"9th MP Company"
(From "The River Currents" -
A Publication of the Mobile Riverine Force Association")
In early November the MRFA received
a e-mail from Darlene McDonald seeking anyone that knew or served with
her brother Joe Ben Stuart, who was KIA on 2/28/68 while serving with
the 9th MP Co. It’s strange but the same day we received the e-mail I
was postinga 9th MP Co. e-mail list in my address book. After finishing
the list I sent Darlene’s request out to the new list. Within an hour
or so I heard from Ed Freeman informing me he had made contact with a few
folks who had served with Darlene’s brother. And Ed took it from there.
A number of men contacted Darlene. In a recent e-mail from Ed he
informed me that one of Joe Stuart’s fellow platoon members, who was a
PFC at the time (retired as a full Colonel), had found an old uniform
with the proper patches, ribbons and decorations etc. attached and sent
to Joe Ben’s sister. So even after 34 years the unit sprit and loyalty
still survives!!! Ed also wrote keep up the good work that keeps alive
the Navy and Army team that we are so proud of!
