Outside of the area of Saigon, military policemen were in engagements with the enemy as dangerous and desperate as those in Saigon....The 93rd MP Battalion at Qui Nhon suffered only one known death, Spec 4 Sergio J. Gherardini with the 66th MP Company and he received a Silver Star posthumously.

Let us not forget Specialist Four Sergio John Gherardini, casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, SP4 Gherardini served our country until January 31st, 1968 in Binh Dinh, South Vietnam. He was 21 years old and was not married. Sergio died from multiple fragmentation wounds. His body was recovered. Sergio was born on August 5th, 1946 in New York, New York.

SP4 Gherardini is on panel 36E, line 010 of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for one year.
