"One of Philadelphia PA's 630 fallen sons" - Photo and article were taken from the Philadelphia Daily News of October 26, 1987. The special supplement entitled, 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' was published in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial.

Major Flood, 35, joined the Army in 1956, the year after he graduated from La Salle College with a bachelor's degree in biology. A provost marshal stationed with the 204th Military Intelligence Detachment at Phu Bai, Viet Nam, Flood died on August 11, 1968. The St. Joseph's Preparatory School graduate was survived by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Let us not forget Major John Joseph Jr Flood, casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, MAJ Flood served our country until August 11th, 1968 in Thua Thien, South Vietnam. He was 35 years old and was not married. John died from an undetermined accident. His body was recovered. John was born on July 8th, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

MAJ Flood is on panel 49W, line 047 of the Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for 12 years.
