PFC
Joel Dansby's watch ended while in a military police jeep, escorting a
private motor vehicle to Womack Army Hospital. A woman in the private
vehicle was giving birth. He was going through a red light at an
intersection when from perpendicular to PFC Dansby's direction of
travel a car went around three to four other vehicles which had yielded
to his blue light and siren. The car struck the military police vehicle
on the side injuring another Military Police from the 82nd
Military Police Company and killing PFC Dansby.
The teenage driver of the car that caused the crash was subsequently
found not guilty in court because the siren on PFC Dansby's jeep did
not meet minimum standards for loudness.
