"Brother" - Even though I was a very young boy when you served our country and perished, your life still lives through your family. The tree that was planted in 1971 is still growing strong and tall as ever.

"A TREE GROWS FOR YOU" - Doug was my nephew and grew up next door to his Grandparents, my Mom and Dad. Doug grew up in West Boone, enjoying life with all of his West Boone buddys. Dougs Dad William(Rocky)Crooks was a veteran of the Korean War. His Grandad was a Veteran of World II. Doug married Connie and they had two children, Tony and Danille it's a shame that he could not see them groing up. In the yard of Garfield School is a pine tree planted as a Memorial to Doug. I am proud and happy to say that after nearly 28 years the tree is still growing straight toward Heaven for Doug to see. Time seems to help heal all wounds. We love and miss you very much Doug, GOD BLESS YOU! Uncle Don.

"My Uncle, the Hero" - Doug Crook's my mothers brother, and hero that I was never given the chance to meet. But I know that he is watching over me and my family, and one day I will meet the man that gave his life to protect our country
