Lt. Col. Jack A. Clegg died March
1, 2004, after a short illness. He was 83 years old.
Col. Clegg was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. After retiring from the
Army, he resided in Novato for the past 37 years.
He was a graduate of the University of Utah in 1947, with a B.S. degree
in industrial management, and in 1969 received his master’s degree in
public administration from Golden Gate University, with high honors.
Col. Clegg entered the military service through the ROTC Program at the
University of Utah and served for more than 20 years as one of the
Department of Defenses’ most experienced Acquisition Management
Officers and Instructors. He retired in 1967, then completed another 15
years with the Department of the Navy as a civilian in various
executive procurement positions in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He was a member of the Retired Officers Association of the U.S. Army, a
32nd Degree Mason, and a member of the Latter Day Saints Church
(Mormon).
Col. Clegg is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara D. Clegg of
Novato; two sons, Michael Scott Clegg of Davis, Calif., and Brent
Dennis Clegg of Petaluma, Calif.; a sister, Leone N. Sayres of Las
Vegas, Nevada; and four grandchildren.
Private graveside services with full military honors will be held. His
family has requested that all contributions be sent to Hospice of
Petaluma.

Novato.
