In memoriam:
Sgt. Tony Bailey

A memorial service for Sgt. Tony Bailey of Hq. and Hq. Co., 26th Area Support Group will be held Friday, June 27 at 10 a.m. at the Cambrai-Fritsch Kaserne Chapel in Darmstadt.

Bailey died Sunday in a German hospital in Darmstadt of injuries sustained May 31 during an altercation with another soldier.

German and U.S. military agencies are conducting an investigation.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. No charges have been filed in the case.

Bailey, 26, a Huntington, W. Va. native, was a military police working-dog handler. His duty station was Darmstadt.

He is survived by two brothers and four sisters.

26th ASG dog handlers win awards

September 13, 2001

Military police officers from the 26th Area Support Group captured top awards in the USAREUR military working dog competition last month.

Dog handlers from the 26th ASG swept the obedience course category, with first place going to Spec. Tony Bailey and working dog Tarzan from Darmstadt; second place to Staff Sgt. Kenyatta Mack and working dog Bradley from Heidelberg; and third place to Staff Sgt. Raymond Wilson and working dog Ruby from Kaiserslautern.

First place in overall patrol dog went to Staff Sgt. Raymond Whitaker and working dog Max from Darmstadt; and second place went to Mack and Bradley.

Bailey and Tarzan won first place in obedience and third place in the same category went to Mack and Bradley.

The team of Whitaker and Max also won first place in criminal apprehension and third place in suspect detection.

Also participating in the Aug. 20-24 competition in Kitzingen were Sgt. Sherill Henderson from Heidelberg and Staff Sgt. David Coomer from Kaiserslautern.
